The Deputy Commissioner heads the District as the Controlling Officer. The DeputyGo BACK Commissioner who also acts as the district GO HOME Development Commissioner for the development purposes controls the district administration. The Deputy commissioner also acts as District Magistrate with regard to the law & order related matters. The administrative setup is as follows:

Pulwama District Comes under   31 -  Anantnag , PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY

Pulwama district has 236 Panchayats and 554 Villages out of which 18 villages are uninhabited. The building of District Secretariat was dedicated to the people of district Pulwama   on 13th of July 1979 by the then Hon’ble Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly .  It is situated at a very prime location on Jammu- Srinagar  National Highway   just at  14 km and 16 km milestones from Awantipora on Highway  and  Galander on  Highway  respectively. It is two  storied building accommodating all the major offices of district like DC office, Chief Planning Officer’s Office, Distt Stat. & Evaluation Office, Addl. Deputy Commissioner/ Asstt. Commissioner (Revenue),  NIC,  Election Office,  Information Office, Asstt Commissioner (Development) Office, Relief Office, District Panchayat  Bawan, ARTO Office etc.. This building is situated at a very prime location on Pulwama - Shopian road and is called  D C Office/ Administrative Complex , Pulwama.
